While editing the website, any text or group of text, image, or picture can be linked either internally or externally.  There is no limit to the amount of links that can be added to an individual page or special feature.  Links can be included in blogs, news, events, forms, map locations, etc., as well.  Links are very important for search engine optimization.  The links can be created by the person editing the website through the editing program.
